Firefighters from most of east Vancouver responded this afternoon to a fire involving two sheds at Orchards Seventh-day Adventist Church, 6415 N.E. 102nd Ave.
The fire was reported at 2:38 p.m. It started in a shed and quickly spread to another outbuilding, according to radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
Some residents of a nearby home used a garden hose to start fighting the fire before firefighters arrived. They were quickly able to knock down the flames.
The cause was not immediately determined. A witness told firefighters he saw kids jump a fence just before he saw the fire.
Power lines were down in the area.
The church itself was not involved in the fire.
