A Battle Ground man was killed in a two-car collision on state Highway 502 near Dollars Corner Saturday morning.

Dennis E. Fiskvik, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, 48-year-old Clifford V. Tingley of Vancouver, was transported to Southwest Washington Medical Center with a broken left leg, according to Washington State Patrol.

The crash occurred at about 8:10 a.m. near Milepost 5, about 1.5 miles west of Battle Ground.

According to a WSP bulletin, Fiskvik was driving a 1994 Mitsubishi Galant westbound on Highway 502. Fiskvik’s vehicle crossed the center line, returned to its lane and then drove off the road and through a ditch. Fiskvik’s vehicle veered back onto the highway and crossed the center line again, this time crashing into Tingley, who was driving eastbound in a 2004 Chevrolet pickup with a trailer, according to WSP.

A medical condition may have caused the collision, according to police. Fiskvik was wearing a seat belt; Tingley was not, according to police.

The collision closed a portion of the highway until about 11:25 a.m.

Tingley’s truck sustained $7,000 worth of damage; Fiskvik’s car was totaled.
