SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The preliminary statistics for the Memorial Day weekend from Oregon State Police show four people were killed in four separate crashes, and officers made 73 drunken driving arrests.

Troopers say the holiday death toll compares to five last year and two in 2008. The worst Memorial Day weekend in Oregon was 1979 when 13 people died.

Troopers say this year’s drunken driving arrests were down from the 88 last year and 79 in 2008.
