Capello signs extension to stay through Euro 2012

LONDON (AP) -- Fabio Capello has signed a contract amendment to stay as England coach through the 2012 European Championship.

The amendment removes an escape clause that could have let the Italian leave after the World Cup in South Africa.

Tuesday's announcement by the Football Association seemingly ends the possibility of Capello replacing Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan.

England was traveling later Tuesday to South Africa ahead of its World Cup opener against the United States on June 12.
