San Diego's Ching, Florida State lead NCAA golf

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- San Diego's Alex Ching shot a 6-under 66 on Wednesday to take the individual lead in the NCAA Division I men's golf championship, while Florida State took a commanding advantage in the team competition.
Ching had eight birdies and a double bogey to match the single-round record at The Honors Course. He had a 9-under 135 total for a two-stroke lead Augusta State's Henrik Norlander (69) and Oklahoma State's Peter Uihlein (68).
Florida State led the team standings at 14-under 562, followed by Oklahoma State (567), Georgia Tech (572), Augusta State (575), Florida (576), San Diego (576), Washington (577) and Clemson (577).
The title for the top individual will be awarded while the top eight teams will advance to three rounds of match play after a final round of stroke play Thursday.
