North County schools plan Readiness Day

Families planning to attend North County School Readiness Day to receive basic school supplies are encouraged to pre-register.

The event is scheduled for Aug. 27 at Battle Ground High School, 300 W. Main St. Pre-registered families can pick up supplies from 2 to 5:30 p.m.; families that did not pre-register can stop in from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

To be eligible for school supplies, families must qualify for free or reduced lunch and reside in one of the following zip codes: 98601, 98604 (or the Battle Ground school district), 98606 (or Hockinson School District), 98622, 98629, 98674 or 98675.

Pre-registration is now open. Families can register from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays; and 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursdays at Battle Ground Adventist Community Services, in the basement at 11117 N.E. 189th St. The phone number is 687-3459.

Registration is also available from 9 to 11:15 a.m. and 1:30 to 3:15 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 to 11:15 a.m. Fridays at North County Community Food Bank, 17 N.E. Third Ave. The phone number is 687-5007.

School Readiness Day will also include information about nutrition, safety, 211info, the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program and the Department of Social and Health Services. Free immunizations will be offered to children from 6 months to 18 years old. Call 566-4410 to make an appointment.
