Woodland council to vote on immigration resolution

WOODLAND, Wash. (AP) -- The city council in the Cowlitz County town of Woodland plans to vote Monday on a resolution supporting Arizona's immigration law and urging Washington to adopt a similar law.

Councilman Benjamin Fredricks told The Daily News of Longview the resolution is a purely symbolic measure to get the attention of state lawmakers.

Mayor Chuck Blum says the resolution is inappropriate because the city of 5,000 has no control over immigration issues.
