Leadership Clark County’s Board of Directors selected Paul Speer as its 2009 Outstanding Alumnus. Speer was a 2006 LCC graduate and has served as a board member, curriculum lead, project leader, scholarship sponsor and has mentored and recruited more than 20 other LCC participants.

James Gladson, who has served as community relations manager in the public sector on a variety of transportation and public works projects, has joined BergerABAM’s Vancouver office as senior public involvement project manager. Gladson has more than 28 years of experience in community outreach programs and public involvements activities.

Vancouver-based ClearAccess has hired Bill Allen to be its new vice president of worldwide sales. Allen brings 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, most recently serving as vice president of sales and operations for San Jose, Calif.-based Allied Telesis. ClearAccess provides software and hardware for managing wireless home and small business networks to Internet service providers.

Kris Thomas has joined insurance brokerage firm Nicholson & Associates Insurance. Thomas had previously been a financial representative for Country Financial. Nicholson & Associates has a main office in Olympia, along with offices in Centralia and Vancouver, 9413 N.E. Highway 99, Suite 2.

Liana Gulzow has been hired by Umpqua Bank as residential loan officer for the Vancouver mortgage division of Umpqua Bank, 12019 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. Prior to joining Umpqua, Gulzow was residential mortgage loan officer with Washington Mutual, now Chase Bank, for 13 years.

Leadership Clark County elected VaNessa Duplessie and Maija Mercer to its 20-member board of directors in October. Duplessie, who received the 2006 Marshall Public Leadership Award, is a general partner with Ridge Partners. Mercer is a regional manager for Holland Residential.

Sierk Braam has joined NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson’s Vancouver office as a real estate salesperson with an emphasis on marketing special assets. Braam will join an existing team of brokerage professionals working with lenders on foreclosed or bank-owned properties.
