SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Spokane police say an officer used his car to break down a garage door and save a suicidal man from exhaust fumes.
Officers who responded to the home Sunday afternoon found an idling vehicle in the garage. They also had been told the man could be armed.
The officer, Zachary Dahle, used his patrol car to push open the roll-up door and ventilate the garage while keeping a safe distance.
The man finally surrendered and was taken to a hospital for treatment of carbon monoxide poisoning.
