Five Guys Burgers and Fries on Monday opened its second Vancouver franchise serving its made-to-order hamburgers and generous sides of french fries.

A staff of 47 full-and part-time employees work at the new restaurant, located on the southwest corner of Southeast 192nd Avenue and Mill Plain Boulevard. Five Guys Burgers and Fries opened its first Vancouver venue in December at Northeast 78th Street and Hazel Dell Avenue.

The new Five Guys restaurant is the fifth location in the Portland area for franchise owners Bill Marble and Mark Quandt of Northwest Burgers and Fries and Northwest One Inc. The company plans to open 27 more restaurants in Oregon and Washington.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries gained recognition in 2009 as a favorite haunt of President Barack Obama. Founded in 1986, the Washington, D.C.-based chain began franchising in 2005 and now operates from 605 restaurant locations nationwide.
