Friends of Hospice recently donated $50,000 to Hospice Southwest, a program of Southwest Washington Medical Center.

The Friends group is a nonprofit organization that has worked for more than 23 years, raising more than $500,000 to support terminally ill hospice patients and their families.

Friends of Hospice has several annual fundraising activities, including a holiday poinsettia sale and a fall luncheon.

The money helps patients receiving end-of-life in-home hospice services or at other sites, including the Ray Hickey Hospice House.

Hospice Southwest also offers bereavement programs.
