SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Trial has started for a civilian contractor accused of sexually assaulting a woman in an interrogation room at Fairchild Air Force Base.
Michael W. Fassbender, 32, is charged with three counts of first-degree rape and second-degree assault with sexual motivation after an encounter with a woman on Oct. 19 at the survival school at Fairchild.
Deputy Spokane Prosecutor Sharon Hedlund described Tuesday how Fassbender allegedly took the woman to a mock prisoner-of-war camp on the base and later inside the interrogation training building. The woman said he was violently raped, but Fassbender contends they had rough consensual sex.
Court documents says Fassbender choked the woman into unconsciousness during the assaults.
