HAZEL DELL — A health clinic owned and operated by women and aimed at the Spanish-speaking uninsured has moved into bigger, better digs.

Clinica de Salud Familiar — Family Health Clinic — will hold a grand opening from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at 9102 N.E. Highway 99. That’s just a couple doors down from the old location.

The new space still has two examination rooms — but now there’s a lab, a kitchen and more office and reception space.

“I’m a very different clinic because I do not accept insurance,” said clinic owner and family nurse practitioner Susana Serna. “I charge a $55 flat fee for the office visit/physical exam, with reduced lab rates as well.” Same-day appointments are available. The clinic staff is bilingual.

Offerings at the grand opening will include free blood pressure screenings and breast, cervical and colon health programs. There will also be Italian ices and homemade tamales.

Serna said there are approximately 44,000 uninsured people in Clark County and 23,000 Hispanics.

The expansion was paid for with a grant from Mercy Corps Northwest. For more information, visit http://www.clinicade salud.net or call 360-576-4140.
