SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A 5-year-old boy is reportedly hospitalized in serious condition after a fire at his home in northeast Spokane.

Assistant Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer told The Spokesman-Review the boy’s father and three other family members suffered smoke inhalation Friday attempting to rescue him.

Firefighters finally found the boy using a thermal imaging camera. He was given CPR on the way to Sacred Heart Medical Center. He was initially reported in critical condition and family members said he was on a respirator.
