Yakima getting fed help against gang violence

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) -- Yakima is getting some federal help to fight gang violence.

Chief Sam Granato and other officials met Thursday with Eastern District U.S. Attorney Jim McDevitt to hear about funds from the Safe Streets Act.

KNDO-TV reports Yakima could receive as much as $3 million a year to help pay for investigations, wire taps and witness protection.
