The Battle Ground community float received the theme award Saturday at the 2010 Portland Rose Festival’s KeyBank Grand Floral Parade in Portland.

The float, created by the Battle Ground Rose Festival Committee, was far from the only Clark County entry honored.

The Heritage High School band took first place in the Out of State Open category for marching bands with 100 or more members, and bands from Columbia River, Battle Ground and Prairie high schools came in first, second and third, respectively in the Out of State Open Division A category for bands with 99 members or less.

In the band support category, Heritage High School took third place among flag and dance teams. Columbia River High School took second place for parent support and outwalkers, and Heritage High School took third. Battle Ground High School took third place in cheerleading.
