SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — A lawyer for former Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli has notified Springfield Municipal Court in writing of his client’s not guilty pleas to three noncriminal citations. Masoli was cited June 7 for possessing less than an ounce of marijuana, driving with a suspended license and failing to stop when entering a roadway.

Eugene lawyer Dan Koenig says Masoli’s family hired him. No trial date has yet been set.

Masoli was kicked off the Oregon team on June 9. In a statement, the university said he was dropped because he did not “adhere to obligations” outlined by coach Chip Kelly. The coach declined comment.

Kelly suspended Masoli in March for the entire 2010 season after the quarterback pleaded guilty to burglary for his role in the theft of laptops and a guitar from a fraternity.
