YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — A Granger man convicted of drunken driving for a crash on Highway 97 near Toppenish was sentenced Monday to five years in prison.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports Superior Court Judge Michael Schwab gave the maximum term to 41-year-old Thomas Peters, who has a history of drunken driving and traffic offenses.

He previously was sent to prison in 2006 for a crash that killed his girlfriend. He was on probation for vehicular homicide when he ran a stop sign in March of last year near Toppenish. No one was seriously injured in that crash.
