Sentencing of the former Ridgefield School District employee who admitted to defrauding the district of $806,645 has been pushed back to late August.

Peggy Kane, who worked in the district’s business department for 21 years, will be sentenced at 10 a.m. Aug. 27 before Judge Robert J. Bryan in U.S. District Court in Tacoma. She was originally scheduled to be sentenced July 9.

Kane, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud, a felony, on May 12. As part of the plea deal, federal prosecutors and the defense agreed to recommend a two-year prison sentence and $806,645 in restitution. Kane will also have three years of supervised release following her prison term.

At sentencing, the judge will decide whether to following the sentencing recommendations and if additional fines should be imposed.

Kane admitted to funneling money from the district into her personal bank account during a 10-year span beginning about July 1999. She used the money to finance frequent vacations, purchase jewelry, create a college fund for her grandchildren and purchase several cars.
