PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A Hillsboro man accused of shooting a police officer during a welfare check has been indicted on two counts of attempted aggravated murder.
A Washington County grand jury also indicted 45-year-old Sepp Tokanaga on accusations of attempted assault, possession of a destructive device, and the unlawful possession of a weapon and body armor.
Hillsboro officers and Washington County sheriff’s deputies conducted the check June 3 after a therapist called police and reported a distraught patient.
Authorities say Tokanaga fired on officers, striking one of them in the shoulder.
Tokanaga remains in the county jail Thursday.
