COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — The Baseball Hall of Fame is preparing for the second Hall of Fame Classic at venerable Doubleday Field on Father’s Day.

And the old-timers’ game that replaced the annual Hall of Fame Game appears to have a solid foundation. Susan O’Handley, who heads the local chamber of commerce, says the community is thrilled with the changes the new format has brought because there’s been so much interaction between the players and fans.

Approximately 6,500 tickets have been sold so far for Sunday’s game. The seven-inning exhibition this year will feature Hall of Famers Rollie Fingers, Gary Carter, Goose Gossage, Harmon Killebrew, Phil Niekro, and Ozzie Smith along with 20 other former major leaguers, including Kevin Bass, Paul Blair, Bert Campaneris, and Bill Madlock.
