COULEE DAM, Wash. (AP) — So much water is flowing down the Columbia River it’s spilling over the top of the Grand Coulee Dam.

KREM-TV reports this is the first time since 1997 that dam officials had to lower the floodgates.

The water is not currently needed to generate electricity.
