SUNRIVER, Ore. (AP) — A Sunriver man is facing multiple charges after the Oregon State Police say he intentionally crashed into a patrol car while trying to elude troopers in the Gilchrist area.

Troopers said they were on the lookout Sunday for a suspect in a Bend-area theft driving a white pickup when a state police sergeant saw it at a gas station.

The driver fled, starting a chase along U.S. Highway 97 that reached speeds up to 80 mph before troopers were able to force the pickup off the road. The driver then rammed a patrol car and the chase continued for another two miles before he abandoned the truck and fled on foot, leading to an arrest.

Troopers charged 19-year-old Blake Karlwicz with various counts, including reckless endangering and reckless driving.
