PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) — Cristie Kerr has shot a 3-under 69 to open an eight-stroke lead after three rounds of the LPGA Championship.

Under a persistent rain that fell for the final two hours Saturday, Kerr moved to 13-under 203 at the $2.25 million at the Locust Hill Country Club.

Kerr’s lead is the largest after 54 holes at the LPGA Championship. It breaks the mark of seven strokes Mickey Wright had on her way to winning in 1961. The final round is Sunday.

Mika Miyazato double-bogeyed No. 18 to finish at 72 and fall into a three-way tie for second. She’s tied with rookie Azahara Munoz and Jimin Kang after both finished with 70s.

Kerr, the top-ranked American, is seeking to win her second major after winning the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open.
