Clark County Animal Control and the Clark County Executive Horse Council will benefit from a fundraising event this weekend at Chevy’s Fresh Mex restaurants at 4315 N.E. Thurston Way in Vancouver and at 12520 S.E. 93rd Ave. in Clackamas, Ore.

From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, diners can have 25 percent of their food charges be donated to the council’s adopt-a-horse program. The council will split proceeds with the county’s animal control department.

To participate, present a flier from http://www.ccehc.org.

“We have made it a priority to keep as many officers as possible on staff so they can respond to calls aimed at protecting both people and animals,” Paul Scarpelli, animal control manager, said in a news release. “We really appreciate the Horse Council’s offer to raise money that could help buy tools and equipment, to stretch our budget and keep up the good work.”

The adopt-a-horse program was created to care for horses whose owners are unable to keep them.
