GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) — A 25-year-old Grants Pass man faces an aggravated murder charge in the stabbing death of his girlfriend.

The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports that a Josephine County grand jury handed down the indictment late Tuesday against Nathaniel L. Geith.

An autopsy found Savanna Albertson had been stabbed 33 times, and the indictment alleges that Geith committed torture or maiming in the course of killing her.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Lisa Johnson had no comment on whether prosecutors will seek the death penalty.

Geith was covered in blood when he was arrested in a nearby garage. According to court papers, he told police that Albertson came at him with a knife, and he just “went psycho.”
