BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — A two-alarm fire has burned three old commercial buildings in downtown Bellingham and two have collapsed into rubble.
The fire broke out about 2:30 a.m. Monday and spread quickly through the wooden buildings that were reportedly about a century old.
The buildings had housed an antique shop, furniture store and another retail business.
By 4 a.m. two of the buildings had collapsed and the third was gutted.
Fire Chief Bill Boyd told The Bellingham Herald said he wasn’t sure if anyone was inside the buildings when the fire started and didn’t know the cause.
The buildings were located on the south side of West Holly Street at West Champion Street.
