LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Sherron Collins couldn’t help but get emotional before his final game at Allen Fieldhouse.

The senior guard for second-ranked Kansas tried to hold back tears as he was honored before Wednesday night’s game against No. 5 Kansas State.

Collins was escorted onto the court by his mother and uncle. He hugged coach Bill Self before being presented a framed No. 4 jersey as the crowd of 16,300 stood and applauded on Senior Night.

Collins, from Chicago, won’t leave as the school’s career leader in any major statistical category. But he entered his home finale having won more games (124) than any player in Jayhawks history. He also was leading Kansas in scoring with 15.3 points per game.
