Golf tournament to benefit Shriners
Space is still available for a four-person scramble golf tournament at Camas Meadows to benefit Shriners International.
The tournament is the senior project of Mckinsey Rodgers of Camas High School. Rodgers was a Shriners patient when she was diagnosed with a bone cyst in her leg at age seven.
The tournament will be held March 13. Tickets are $100 per person for 18 holes of golf, golf carts, range balls and a barbecue after the tournament.
There will also be a raffle during the barbecue and an auction for a basketball signed by the Portland Trail Blazers.

Local athletes honored by WIAA
Two Clark County athletes were honored as WIAA/Seattle Times state athletes of the week last week.
Taisha Duran of Hudson’s Bay was selected as the top 3A female athlete of the wee. The senior gymnast won the state all-around title with a score of 38.05 and won the vault title with a mark of 9.7.
Alicia McElroy was the 2A female athlete of the week after scoring 30 and 27 points in games for the Panthers the previous week. She sank three free throws with one second remaining and her team trailing by two, giving Washougal at 61-60 win over Mark Morris.
Spring sports open practices
Spring is in the air around high school campuses in Southwest Washington.
Monday marked the first day of practices for the spring sports seasons for baseball, softball, boys soccer, track and field, girls tennis and girls golf.
Teams will spend the next two weeks getting ready for the upcoming season, which is due to kick off the week of March 15 for most teams.
2A district playoff game today
The Hockinson and Ridgefield boys basketball teams will play at 7 p.m. today at Mark Morris High School in Longview for the right to keep their postseason alive. Today’s winner will play a winner-to-state game Saturday.
