MARIBOR, Slovenia (AP) — Slovenia prepared for the World Cup and a first-round match with the United States by routing Qatar 4-1 in an exhibition game Wednesday night.
Slovenia built a 3-0 lead on goals by Milivoje Novakovic in the 13th minute, Bostjan Cesar in the 30th and Andraz Kirm in the 34th,
Brazilian-born Fabio Montesin scored Qatar’s goal just before halftime, but Bojan Jokic restored the three-goal margin in the 67th minute.
Slovenia faces England, the United States and Algeria in Group C at the World Cup.
