BREWSTER, Wash. (AP) — A 17-year-old Brewster boy accused of planning a school shooting because he was tired of being bullied has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Okanogan County prosecutors charged Charles T. Mustoe as an adult on Wednesday.

Court documents say the Brewster High School student was asked about a plan to attack his school but told police he dropped that idea because he has friends there and instead was targeting Chelan High School. Prosecutors allege he was planning the attack for April 20, 2011 — the 12th anniversary of the Columbine High School shootings in Colorado.

Police arrested Mustoe last weekend, taking three shotguns, five rifles and two pistols from his home. Court documents say he told police he had been threatened by other boys and was “sick of being pushed around.”

Police say their investigation began after Mustoe discussed his plan online with a 14-year-old British Columbia girl and her parents contacted authorities.
