PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon AFL-CIO and Teamsters Joint Council 37 have endorsed John Kitzhaber’s campaign for governor.

The Oregon AFL-CIO represents more than 225,000 Oregonians, and the Teamsters Joint Council 37 represents about 30,000 workers around the state. Both announced their endorsements on Friday.

Kitzhaber is a former two-term governor. He has won every union endorsement so far in his race against Bill Bradbury for the Democratic nomination in the May primary election.

The two candidates still are vying for the endorsement of the state’s powerful public employee unions, which are expected to make their choices soon.
