HOMESTEAD, Fla. (AP) — Darren Law was one of nine drivers to break Homestead-Miami Speedway’s old track record for Daytona Prototype sports cars, as he captured the pole Friday for the Grand Prix of Miami, the second race of the 2010 Rolex Sports Car Series season.

Law, driving the No. 59 Brumos Porsche that won the series season finale last year at Homestead, had a fast lap of 115.310 mph on the 2.3-mile road course. He’ll share the ride in Saturday’s race with co-driver David Donohue.

“We always run well at Homestead, and the Brumos car was very, very good as the tires came up,” Law said.

In the production-based GT class, eight drivers broke the previous track record — led by polesitter Paul Edwards’ 106.332-mph lap in a Chevrolet Corvette.
