MacKay & Sposito Inc. announced that Matt Faulkner recently passed his certified federal surveyor exam, one of 300 surveyors in the nation. Faulkner works in the Vancouver office of MacKay & Sposito and has been with the company since 2007. He is currently instructing a surveying class at Clark College as part of the certified survey technician certificate program in addition to his work at M&S.
Doug Thurston, a district manager with Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Co., has received a national honor for sales excellence. He was named first runner-up for the District General Agent Premier Office of the Year award. In addition, Thurston qualified for the company’s President’s Club, a special sales club honoring the company’s top sales people of the year. The Vancouver business leader is from the Oregon/Idaho territory office of Colonial Life.
Veteran broker Terry Phillips won the Commercial Real Estate Transaction of the Year award in February for the sale of Hewlett-Packard’s Vancouver campus to silicon wafer manufacturer SEH America. The certified commercial investment members of Oregon and Southwest Washington gave Phillips the award for the $55 million agreement between HP and SEH America. Phillips is the first broker in Southwest Washington to ever receive the award.
Two Portland-based FedEx Ground truckers from Vancouver have been praised for their driving records without a preventable accident. Randy Holmer was honored for 19 years of safe driving and Scott Hollar was honored for 14 years of safe driving.

The Olive Kat, 12503 N.E. 72nd Ave., sells gifts, home and garden furniture and decor, vintage collectibles and repurposed furniture. Owners are Matt and Veronica Hart of Woodland.
