A search for a missing 24-year-old Portland woman was postponed Sunday night and will be resumed this morning near Bonneville Dam in Skamania County, Skamania County Undersheriff Dave Cox said.

Cox said Katherine Huether texted a friend about 3 p.m. Thursday that she was at a trailhead and was going for a short hike. She also wrote she would be returning home around 8 p.m.

About 1 a.m. Friday, a Skamania County deputy found her vehicle at the Pacific Crest trailhead at Bonneville Dam.

Portland police reported her as a missing person, Cox said.

Searchers began an intensive search, Cox said.

Searchers included the Portland Police Air Support Unit and the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office.

About 2 p.m. Sunday, a hiker found a credit card with Huether’s name on it near Table Mountain, about four miles north of Bonneville Dam. Resources were refocused to the area and continued until dark.

Cox said there is no indication of foul play.

A helicopter with a FLIR (thermal vision) system was requested for Sunday night but inclement weather kept it from flying, Cox said.
