CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Some of the most pampered residents of Corvallis went on display for the “Cooped up in Corvallis” tour of the city’s urban hen houses.

Sunday’s event was organized by the Edible Corvallis Initiative and the Corvallis Environmental Center. Participants went on a self-guided tour of eight of the area’s backyard chicken and duck coops.

The Gazette-Times of Corvallis says the chicken houses ranged from simple pens to a two-story structure with a chicken coop on the bottom and a play fort on top. The newspaper says interest is growing in keeping chickens as a hobby because the fresh eggs taste so good.
