A 41-year-old man surrendered to police Monday evening after a 2 1/2 -hour standoff in Vancouver’s Rose Village neighborhood.

Officers were called to the home at St. Johns Boulevard and East 33rd Street about 3:30 p.m., said Officer Ilia Botvinnik with the Vancouver Police Department.

Officers were told the man was wanted for alleged felony domestic violence, and that he had a history of possessing guns.

As a result, officers took positions around the home.

They called in the Southwest Washington Regional SWAT Team, Clark County Sheriff’s deputies and a tracking dog, and asked that special weapons, including a less-lethal gun and gas, be brought to the scene.

Those weapons weren’t deployed and no shots were fired. Officers used a loudspeaker in a patrol car to ask the man to come outside and he surrendered about 6 p.m., Botvinnik said.

Police did not immediately release the man’s name.
