Dome is like second home to Union’s Saylor, Nelson

Mitch Saylor and Taylor Nelson both wear Union uniforms and represent the Titans.
It just seems like they live in Tacoma.
And their home is in the dome.
Saylor and Nelson are the two seniors on the basketball team who also starred for the Union football team.
So this week, when the Titans play in the Tacoma Dome for the Class 3A state boys basketball tournament, it will be Saylor and Nelson’s fifth appearance there as members of a Union team sport.
“Too bad track’s not in the Tacoma Dome,” said Saylor, noting that he and Nelson are three-sport athletes.
“We’ve gone there a lot. It’s kind of like a normal thing,” Nelson said.
Union football won a semifinal game in the dome in 2008, then lost in the championship game. This past fall, the Titans lost in the football semifinals in the dome.
Last year’s basketball team won two games in the dome and finished seventh in the tournament.
Both players are known more for their football abilities, but they each have basketball skills, too.
And if the team van gets lost, they know how to find their way to the dome.
