Port launches joint marketing program

— The Port of Vancouver is launching a joint marketing effort, along with the city of Vancouver and the Columbia River Economic Development Council, to lease its available industrial property.

The 2010 draft industrial marketing plan, developed by the port, focuses on the port’s competitive advantages, including its location on the Columbia River and Interstate 5 corridor, rail infrastructure and existing business clusters in trucking, logistics and warehousing, plastics, food processing, manufacturing and recycling. The port will also target diverse manufacturing, renewable energy and green jobs.

The unprecedented availability of space means the port is “adopting a more active marketing approach where we are going after new business opportunities in specific market segments as opposed to letting them just come to us,” according to the draft plan. The port now has 121 acres of available industrial land for sale or lease and 346,400 square feet of building space for lease.
