DALLAS (AP) — Authorities say four incendiary devices have been found in the mail in eastern Texas in recent weeks.
U.S. Postal Inspector Amanda McMurrey said Friday a device was found Tuesday at a mail processing facility in Owentown, 95 miles east of Dallas. She declined to describe the device but the Tyler Morning Telegraph, citing a Smith County sheriff’s report, said it was a beer bottle filled with gasoline and topped with a wick.
Rusk County Sheriff Danny Pirtle told the newspaper that two devices were found recently in his jurisdiction. And Kilgore police Lt. Roman Roberson says one device was found there.
Roberson says the device didn’t pose a threat and was passed on to postal inspectors and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
