SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The man who killed an undercover Spokane police officer in 1983 will remain in prison.
For the fourth time, the state Clemency and Pardons Board on Wednesday denied a request for clemency from Lonnie Link. He is now 51 years old and has served 26 years on his murder conviction and life sentence.
Link says he didn’t know Brian Orchard was a police officer when he shot him because Orchard was not in uniform.
