CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Thanks to its track and field program, Miami’s football team just got a late recruiting boost.

Two-sport standout Latwan Anderson — the 15th-ranked football recruit by Rivals.com in the 2010 signing class — has signed a letter of intent with the Hurricanes’ track program.

Anderson will enroll in fall classes. He’s also ranked among the nation’s top sprinters, and was a standout defensive back for Glenville High in Ohio, playing in the U.S. Army All-American Game.

His high school coach was Ted Ginn Sr., the father of Miami Dolphins receiver and returner Ted Ginn.

Anderson originally committed to play football at West Virginia. He plans to be a football walk-on at Miami.
