Woman dies from Spanaway house fire

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — An 81-year-old woman who was pulled from her burning home in Spanaway Tuesday died Thursday night at a Tacoma hospital.

She’s identified by the Pierce County medical examiner’s office as Margie Miller.

Central Pierce Fire and Rescue firefighters had found her unconscious in heavy smoke.

The News Tribune of Tacoma reports the fire was contained to the family room. Damage to the house is estimated at $200,000. Miller’s dog also died in the fire.
