Union basketball game may not be available to local viewers

Fans of the Union boys basketball team who can’t make the trip north to the Tacoma Dome for tonight’s Class 3A championship game against Enumclaw can watch the game live on Fox Sports Northwest — if they are subscribers of DirecTV or Dish Network.

However, some cable subscribers may be left to watch the Oregon high school championship game.

Brian Piper, communications manager for FSN, said the network will be splitting its feed to deliver the Washington state championship game for Washington viewers and the Oregon state championship to Oregon viewers.

However, Vancouver is generally regarded as being part of the Portland market.

“Some cable systems in your area cannot split their feeds, so fans in Vancouver end up receiving (Oregon) games instead of (Washington),” Piper said.

According to Comcast’s Web site, Vancouver viewers are set to get the Oregon 6A girls championship game at 7 p.m., and not the Union boys against Enumclaw.

Fans with DirecTV or Dish can watch the Union game on their normal FSN channel positions, while the Oregon games will be available on DirecTV channel 688 or Dish channel 449.

Union fans who are unable to watch the game can listen to a live play-by-play at www.carlclick.com or receive in-game updates from The Columbian’s Twitter posts at www.twitter.com/360preps.
