It’s no blarney: St. Paddy’s celebrations abound

Options abound for revelers looking to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Clark County and Portland.

Here is a look at several fun ideas to help make the most of St. Patrick’s Day. Just don’t forget to wear green.

Irishtown Bar & Grill festivities

Battle Ground folk singer Tom May is among the performers at the all-day festival, which features live music and dancing. Other highlights include performances from Irishtown owner Peter Yeates and the Molly Malone Dancers. A complete schedule is available online. The Tom May Irish Band will perform from 7:30-8:45 p.m.

When: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Performances continue to 1 a.m.

Where: Irishtown Bar & Grill, 11600 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., Suite F, Vancouver.

Admission: Free before 5 p.m.; $10 afterward.

Paddy Hough Parade

The Hough neighborhood parade brings together Hough Elementary School students, staff and community members to celebrate the neighborhood’s history. Those marching in the parade include Hough Elementary School students, Vancouver Public Schools marching bands, bagpipers, car clubs, the Vancouver Police Department, the Vancouver Fire Department and several community organizations.

When: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Where: The parade begins at Hough Elementary School, 1900 Daniels St., Vancouver. The parade marches north to West 24th Street and goes east to Main Street. It goes south on Main Street and turns east onto East McLoughlin Boulevard. The parade ends at Daniels Street.

Portland area

Kells St. Patrick’s Irish Festival

The biggest St. Patrick’s Day festival in Portland includes live Irish music, dancing, food and family entertainment. Performers include St. James’ Gate, Curtis Salgado and U277, a U2 cover band. A full list of musicians, events and restaurant hours is online. Battle Ground’s Tom May will perform at noon and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

When: Through Wednesday; live music begins at 9 tonight, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Where: Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub, 112 S.W. Second Ave., Portland.

Admission: Free today, $15-$20 Tuesday and $20-$25 Wednesday.
