The Vancouver Police Department SWAT team was called to a home in the 2400 block of Lincoln Avenue this morning for a domestic dispute that ended with the arrest of a 29-year-old man.

Thomas Atwell was arrested on suspicion of assault, kidnapping and felony harassment at 5:30 a.m., more than two hours after police were dispatched to the residence.

Dispatchers received a call from a woman who had fled the home after her boyfriend threatened her with a gun, according to a press release. She told authorities her 6-year-old son was still inside the home.

A SWAT team surrounded the home and Atwell was taken into custody without incident. Hostage negotiators responded to the residence, according the press release.

There were no injuries.
