TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A man convicted of killing an armored car guard during a 2009 robbery at a Tacoma-area Wal-Mart has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Calvin Finley earlier pleaded guilty to aggravated first-degree murder in an agreement that spared him a possible death penalty. The 35-year-old man was sentenced Friday in Pierce County Superior Court.
Finley admitted he fatally shot Loomis armored car guard Kurt Husted last June 2. Husted was picking up cash and checks from the Lakewood Wal-Mart when he was shot. A customer was hit by the same bullet but survived.
In all, Pierce County prosecutors charged five people in the deadly robbery. They included a Wal-Mart employee accused of providing insider knowledge of the money pickups.
