PROSSER, Wash. (AP) — The Benton County Sheriff’s Office says a 5-year-old boy has died after falling into an irrigation canal.
The child was playing with two siblings Saturday afternoon and somehow tumbled into the canal and was carried away by the water current.
Sheriff’s officials say an airplane tracked the child and searchers found him in water at the Chandler Dam.
Deputies performed CPR before he was taken by ambulance to Kadlec Medical Center. The child died shortly after.
