FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The projected crest of the Red River at Fargo, N.D., has dropped another half-foot.

The National Weather Service updated its projection Saturday to 37 feet, or 19 feet above flood stage. That high mark is expected by midday Sunday.

Officials in Fargo say they’re in good shape for the crest.

Hydrologist Bill Barrett says the weather service can fine-tune its number as the crest gets closer.

The weather service also is expecting the Red River to drop off more quickly. Barrett says that’s a result of recent cold weather that slowed snowmelt.
