CLARK COUNTY — People who lack adequate health insurance are invited to a county-sponsored health resource fair on Tuesday.

If you qualify, you can sign up for such low-cost public health insurance programs as Apple Health for Kids.

A wide variety of health and social service agencies also will be on hand to explain their offerings and operations — including county, state, federal and tribal agencies as well as private nonprofits like the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington, Planned Parenthood of the Columbia Willamette, the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington and Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors.

Clark County Commissioner Steve Stuart and Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt will deliver opening remarks. Two previously uninsured families will talk about the benefits of Apple Health for Kids.

The event coincides with national “Cover the Uninsured Week” (March 22-26) and aims to enroll families in health insurance programs.

Families of four with an annual household income of up to $66,000 may qualify for Apple Health for Kids, which provides children with medical, dental, and vision benefits through age 19.

To apply, bring 30 days’ worth of pay stubs or a 2009 tax return. Visit http://www.clark.wa.gov/public-health/insurance/children.html to learn more. The fair will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Roosevelt Elementary School, 2921 Falk Road. Contact Dolly England at 360-397-8000, ext. 7308, or dolly.england@clark.wa.gov for more information.
